WNBA National Meeting in New York
WNBA/Boston President Lisa Braxton and Vice President Shin Freedman represented Boston at the national WNBA conference held in New York City in June. Chapter presidents from across the country and the national board discussed national initiatives and programs, strategies for strengthening the chapters, and long-term planning.

Private Lunch with an Author
During a delicious meal at the elegant Red House Restaurant in Cambridge, author Roberta Gately (pictured with WNBA Boston President Lisa Braxton) spoke to attendees about her novel, Lipstick in Afghanistan and her work as a humanitarian and aid worker in third world war zones.

Different Cultures, Different Lands
It was "standing room only" at "Different Cultures, Different Lands author panel. Authors (left to right) Jina Ortiz, who is Dominican American, Marilène Phipps-Kettlewell from Haiti, and Grace Talusan, who was born in the Philippines, read from works inspired by their experiences in their native countries and cultures. The event was held at Coolidge Corner Branch Library in Brookline.

For WNBA Boston members and guests guilty pleasures range from bodice rippers, to pot boilers, to homespun tails set in a quaint town. Guilty Pleasures: Books we Love, but are Slightly Embarrassed to Admit, held at Brookline Public Library September 15th, drew lots of laughs and generated lively conversation.
